What are the most highly anticipated cars of 2017?
The Lexus LC 500 possibly? The Honda Civic Type R? There's plenty of exciting machines expected to land between now and early 2018, and one of the definites in that pile is the Kia Stinger GT.
In the wake of the dying Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon, many have sighted the Stinger as a potential spiritual successor thanks to its rear-wheel drive, proposed power output, and the presence of various BMW and Audi minds on its production team.
That engine is probably going to be one of the Stinger GT's most discussed features when it eventually lands here later in the year. The 3.3-litre V6 twin turbo that powers the top of the range GT is good for a 0–100 time of 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 273km/h.
But while the numbers are impressive, sound is also an important factor (just ask the Formula 1). Up until now we hadn't heard a clear recording of the Stinger's engine note, but that's changed with the emergence of a video from a Korean preview event.
Sadly, the note of the Kia isn't exactly what you'd call exhilarating. It seems most of what you can hear is just engine noise, rather than any exhaust tuning. It's been reported elsewhere that Kia could well make some alterations to the note before they start rolling out across the world.
Fingers crossed, because almost every other ingredient needed to make this a knockout is in place.
