Not just an SUV maker: Leapmotor's BO5 is a sporty hatch.

  • Sporty hatchback takes Leapmotor to new market segment.
  • B10 compact-SUV also launched globally, sitting below C10.
  • Leapmotor International a joint venture with Stellantis (Peugeot, Jeep).

Chinese electric carmaker Leapmotor has just unveiled the B05 sport C-hatchback as a key future step in its global expansion, alongside the commercial launch of the B10 electric SUV.

At a snip over 4.4m long, the BO5 is definitely small-hatch sized.

The Leapmotor B05 is a zero-emissions compact hatchback designed with a focus on agile handling, smart technology, robust build quality, and modern design.

The B05 features frameless doors and 19-inch alloy wheels. Measuring 1880mm wide, 4430mm long, and 1520mm high with a wheelbase of 2735mm, the B05 is designed for performance and handling.

Global CEO of Leapmotor, Zhu Jiangming, says: “The B05 is more than a car - it’s a statement. It reflects our commitment to innovation, accessibility, and empowering the next generation of drivers across Europe and beyond.”

While the B05's future in New Zealand is yet to be confirmed (it's set for an Australian debut in 2026 though), the B10 SUV (one size down from the C10) is set for local launch this year.

B10 SUV fits under C10 and will go on sale in NZ this year.

The brand started B10 delivery this month in over 30 countries, “reinforcing Leapmotor’s commitment to rapid expansion and customer accessibility.”

Markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and South America are among those set to receive the B10. And NZ of course.

Leap says B10's chassis has had input from partner Stellantis.

Powered by a highly efficient electric motor that delivers 163kW/240Nm, the B10 accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8 seconds.

Globally, the B10 comes with two battery options: the Pro with a 56.2kWh pack providing up to 361km of WLTP range, and the ProMax battery version with a 67.1kWh pack delivering 434km.

Both battery packs support 11kW AC charging and DC charging of up to 168 kW, allowing for a 30–80% charge in under 20 minutes.

Additionally, the Leapmotor B10 features a 50/50 weight distribution, multi-link rear suspension, and a chassis developed in collaboration with Stellantis.

The B10 is a compact SUV, measuring 4515mm in length, 1885mm in width and 1655mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2735mm.
