New 2017 Panamera leaked the week before its official launch

These images are reportedly of the new 2017 Porsche Panamera — and even in their grainy imperfect glory, you can tell that this is the prettiest the often maligned Panamera design has ever looked.

The new Panamera is scheduled to make its formal debut next week, with Porsche today also publishing a somewhat mysterious video teaser that seemingly hints at the luxury sedan claiming a new record at the Nurburgring. You can view the trailer below.

While performance figures are obviously still an unknown, what the leaked images do highlight is a sleeker, softer look to the Panamera — keeping in line with the changes made to the latest Porsche Boxter (which will feature on the cover of this weekend's copy of Driven). A thin length of LED strip connects the two tail lights together, while also framing the Panamera rear badging.

The lighter, less bulbous look is expected to be backed up by a lighter kerb weight. Combined with Porsche's new twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 power plant, which also features in the leak, it's no surprise that Porsche are so confident about its performance chops.

The interior of the Panamera is one of the elements still to be fleshed out. Among the leaked images is a snap from the back seat showing off a screen for rear passengers as well as loads of leg room, while another image shows a digital dashboard and an analogue tachometer. It's been reported that a large 12-inch touch screen will hero the buttonless dash of the Panamera, but this is still to be confirmed.

The Panamera will be formally launched next Wednesday Kiwi time. And regardless of what's announced, we're just glad that the looks finally appear to match the grace and pace of the car that's always lurked underneath.
