Lamborghini has officially launched the Urus performance SUV in Oceania with confirmation of local pricing and first deliveries in Q4, 2018.

The Urus - dubbed by Lamborghini as the 'world's first Super Sport Utility Vehicle' - will be priced from $339,000 + options and ORCs when it lands on our shores.

Lamborghini say the coupe-styled SUV will feature a comfortable ride, luxurious interior, the company's latest technology and the most powerful engine in its class.

Power will come by way of a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine producing 487kW of power at 6,000rpm and 850Nm of torque from 2,250rpm. The redline is set to 6,800rpm.

A turbocharge V8 was selected due to the range of driving conditions the Urus will operate in, with low down torque available for off-road conditions and optimal responsiveness at higher rpm.

Keeping all that speed under control are huge carbon ceramic brakes, fitted as standard on all models, that bring the 2.2-tonne SUV to a halt 100km/h in 33.7 meters.

Coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Lamborghini's four-wheel drive system, the Urus will accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, 0-200km/h in 12.8 seconds and onto a top speed of 305km/h.

The all-wheel drive system will split power delivery 40/60 front to rear and send a maximum of 70 per cent to the front or 86 per cent to the rear axle in pre-programmed drive modes.

The Urus will also be fitted with a rear-wheel steering system introduced in the Aventador S to navigate tight spaces. Wheel options range from 21" to 23" and fitted with specially developed Pirelli P Zero tyres.

For those looking for a premium 4x4 option, an optional Off-Road Package with dedicated driving modes, metal-reinforced bumpers and additional underfloor protection will also be offered.

Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO says the new Urus will elevate the SUV to a level that's never been seen before.

"It is a true Lamborghini in terms of design, performance, driving dynamics and emotion as well as drivable every day in a range of environments,” said Domenicali.

“The Urus fits perfectly within the Lamborghini family as a high performance car. It is the culmination of intensive development and passionate skill to create a new breed of Super SUV.”
