Late last year Hamilton-based e-motorbike maker FTN Motion revealed it's latest model, the Streetdog80, with pre-orders opening immediately.
Unlike previous Streetdog models the new bike, which is based on the new third-generation Streetdog50 but with more power and with a top speed of 80km/h, requires a motorbike licence to ride and expands the Kiwi manufacturer's footprint out of the pure moped category (that only requires a car licence) the 50 sits in and broadens its appeal to bikers.

If this sounds like something you could see yourself commuting on for a fresh start for the new year, well... you're out of luck - for now at least - as the company has just announced that the initial run of 50 Streetdog80s have all been snapped up before it even launched.
Set to officially launch in February, FTN Motion says the Streetdog80 is capable of reaching speeds up to 80 km/h and boasts an impressive estimated range of 140 kilometres when equipped with an extra battery.

"It’s great to see really strong interest in the Streetdog80," said Kendall Bristow, the founder of FTN Motion, who believes that this high demand is linked to the increasing desire for sustainable and efficient transportation options:.
"With traffic congestion and parking getting worse, more people are looking for fast, fun, and environmentally friendly ways to travel. It’s exciting to see how many people are embracing the Streetdog as a solution."
The Streetdog is meticulously handcrafted in FTN Motion's Hamilton workshop, and customers who pre-ordered a Streetdog80 had the opportunity to personalise their bikes with unique colors and accessories. These custom configurations were initially kept under wraps, only revealed to those who placed reservations and the general public will have their first glimpse of the personalised bikes at the official launch event in February.
Since its inception in 2020, FTN Motion has successfully sold over 180 Streetdog motorcycles in New Zealand and the company is actively preparing to expand its operations internationally this year, with Australia slated to be its first export market starting in April.
With the initial run of Streetdog80s being snapped up, the company is now taking reservations on its website for a second production run for delivery in Q2 of this year.
