Kia has unveiled the Concept EV2 at its 2025 EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, showcasing the brand’s vision for a future B-segment all-electric SUV and the company's smallest EV yet.

With its vertical daytime running lights (DRLs) and Kia’s Star Map signature lighting, the EV2 is very clearly a member of Kia's EV family, with a strong shoulder line connecting the front and rear sections, and a bullish stance thanks to its short wheelbase and overhangs.

A short wheelbase and almost no overhangs give the small EV2 a bullish, upright stance.

Kia says the Concept EV2's interior is "designed to blend with urban lifestyles" and features sustainable materials and a multi-configurable layout that incorporates diagonal LED lighting on the front door cards and triangular-pattern lighting with an LED dashboard animation.

Rear-hinged back doors provide a huge opening that reveals an expandable space with a folding second-row seat and pop-up sliding luggage dividers with straps for securing items.

The Concept EV2's interior is clean and minimalist, and features removable speakers that can be positioned in various locations.

"Message lighting" allows occupants to display text messages through the vehicle’s windows (which could be utterly brilliant or absolutely disastrous if included in the final production car...), while removable triangular speakers can be placed in different locations inside or outside the vehicle.

As with all Kia EVs, the Concept EV2 also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.

"The Kia Concept EV2 represents a bold step forward for the future of urban mobility,” said Kia President and CEO, Ho Sung Song.

The Concept EV2 previews the production version that is expected to debut sometime next year.

"With the Concept EV2, we challenged ourselves to create a vehicle that defies expectations, offering innovative technology and practicality beyond its size. This concept previews Kia’s future vision to redefine the segment, bringing a new level of sophistication and usability to urban drivers.

"It's a clear signal of our dedication to making electric vehicles truly accessible for everyone."

The Concept EV2 previews the production EV2 that is expected to launch in Europe and "other regions" in 2026, although whether or not that includes New Zealand is still an unknown.
