- Torres hybrid joins petrol models this year.
- Blade battery technology from BYD.
- Electric driving up to 100km/h, 5.8-6.1l/100km.
KGM New Zealand says a positive response from potential customers to the Torres hybrid on display at Fieldays earlier this year is behind its decision to launch the new model locally. It'll be here "towards the end of 2025" says the company.

KGM is yet to release technical detail for the local model, but in overseas markets the model is listed as having a 1.5-litre petrol engine and full hybrid system with 1.8kWh LFP Blade battery (courtesy of BYD) and electric motor capable of driving in EV mode at up to 100km/h. It's front-drive.
The petrol engine makes 112kW/220Nm, while the electric motor serves up 132kW/300Nm. Combined fuel consumption is 5.8-61 litres per 100km (WLTP).
KGM NZ has confirmed it will be available in both entry-level and Ultimate specifications, with pricing yet to be announced.
The brand currently sells the petrol Torres in both FWD and AWD at $39,990-$44,990. The pure-electric Torres EVX (which also used BYD's Blade battery technology) has been quietly dropped and is no longer available in NZ.
