Keanu Reeves is tearing it up in John Wick: Chapter Two

Keanu Reeves made a return to form in 2014’s all out action thriller John Wick. Reeves starred as a former assassin who took his revenge out against a criminal organisation after they killed his dog and stole his car. Now Reeves is back as Wick in John Wick: Chapter Two, and he’s got plenty of business left to finish.

Here is the synopsis:

After taking his revenge against the Tarasovs in New York, Jonathan ‘John’ Wick (Reeves) is recalled to Rome in order to pay a blood debt that he has long owed. But arriving in the ancient city he finds himself drawn into a war between a conflicted international assassins guild.

John Wick was a great example of a film that took the idea of a crime thriller and completely twisted it on its head. Not only did it bring in a slick neo-noir sensibility in relation to its setting, but the action scenes were genre defining. This was especially true in relation to the film’s dynamic car chases that drew upon director Chad Stahelski’s passion for American muscle cars.

The film’s setting was kicked off when Wick’s Ford 1969 Mach 1 Mustang was stolen, and this was one car he was keen to get back. Packed out with a 6.4L V8 engine, this car was a seriously grunty machine, and was the perfect match for Reeves’s character.

The Mach 1 Mustang wasn’t the only car used throughout filming though as other classics including a 1970 SS 454 LS6 Chevelle and a 1968 Dodge Charger were incorporated into the film. The film’s penultimate scene was filmed in the Brooklyn Navel Yards and saw Reeves behind the wheel of a 2011 Dodge Charger LD. The Naval Yard provided a great atmosphere, and considerable danger and Reeves performed 90% of his own driving in the film.

Muscle car fans will be happy to know that Reeves will once again be back behind the wheels of his Mach 1 for John Wick: Chapter Two. The teaser for the film was released this weekend and hinted at a terrific chase scene that will take place on the streets of New York with Reeves behind the wheel.

In addition to Reeves, John Wick: Chapter Two will also star Common, Ruby Rose, Ian McShane, Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick and Laurence Fishburne as a mysterious character called The Bowler King.

Car fans will have an awesome time when John Wick: Chapter Two is released in cinemas in February 2017
