Jeep have confirmed that their Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee, lovingly known as the Trackhawk, is coming to both Australia and New Zealand.
Confirmation was made at a launch event for Australian and New Zealand-based motoring press earlier today; with the Trackhawk improving on the Grand Cherokee SRT's already lofty performance figures.
While aesthetically the Trackhawk looks a lot like the SRT, things underneath are given a fair tickle. Despite its enormous size, the Trackhawk is able to mow down a quarter mile in 11.6-seconds, revving from 0-100 in 3.5 seconds and hitting a top speed of 290kph.
It achieves this thanks to 527kW and 874Nm, squeezed out of the supercharged V8 from the Hellcat Challenger. Good numbers in any car, absolutely ridiculous numbers from an SUV.
Other performance additives include an uprated Brembo package underlined by two-piece vented rotors on each corner (400mm in the front, 350mm in the rear) and two different options of Pirelli tyre package.
“I’m very excited to confirm that the Trackhawk will officially join the new Grand Cherokee range,” said Jeep Australia CEO Steve Zanlunghi.
"Public interest in the Trackhawk has been incredible – barely a day goes by when I’m not asked if it’s coming. Now I can confirm it."
Along with the Trackhawk announcement, Jeep also confirmed that New Zealand would get the new Compass SUV — which fills the gap between Renegade and Grand Cherokee — a bit earlier than expected; in December of this year.
Stay tuned to Driven for full pricing for both the Trackhawk and the Compass, both of which Jeep are still to confirm.
