Wiring problem will see owners contacted by Jeep NZ
Ateco Group New Zealand has recalled some 2014-2016 Cherokee and 2015 Renegade SUVs this week, with more than 500 vehicles affected.
As part of a global recall to address an electrical issue, owners will be “contacted and ask to take their cars back to a Jeep dealer, where the issue will be corrected”, said an Ateco Group NZ spokesman.
“There are a total of 557 vehicles affected by this recall in New Zealand,” he said.
The recall focuses on concerns that the transaxle wiring harness could suffer intermittent electrical resistance due to insufficient wire terminal crimps.
If the problem occurs, driving power could be lost, potentially causing a crash.
“There have been no reported cases of this failure in New Zealand vehicles,” said the spokesman.
