Jaguar has presented its F-Pace luxury crossover at an international event in Montenegro, with the SUV arriving in New Zealand in the next few months.

First revealed at last year’s Frankfurt motor show, this product is set to increase volume for Jaguar as it competes in the highly popular SUV segment.

It will sit alongside BMW’s X3, Audi’s Q5 and Mercedes-Benz’s GLC in the premium SUV segment, and compete with sister company’s medium SUV, the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The F-Pace arrives in New Zealand midyear and will be priced from $95,000 for Prestige to $165,000 for the First Edition limited model.

The F-Pace joins the F-Type sports cars, plus XE and XF sedans as the brand revitalizes its products with new modular platforms and technology.

The British brand is calling the F-Pace a ‘performance crossover’ and ‘practical sports car’ with a more dynamic appearance.

At the Montenegro global media event, Driven has tested the First Edition on day one of the drive programme from Tivot to Sveti Stefan.

New Zealand will only get five First Edition models that are powered by a 3-litre supercharged petrol engine, producing 280kW of power and 450Nm of torque.

With the dimensions of 4731mm long, 2175mm wide and 1667mm high, while weighing 1595kg, the First Edition has been impressive with its overtaking abilities plus its all-wheel-drive stability.

While the speed limit in Montenegro is 80km/h on the open road, the First Edition had to deal with rain and slow traffic on winding mountainous roads.

The exterior design cues are taken from the F-Type sports coupe while the interior is similar in sophistication to the new XF.

The F-Pace is the third model from Jaguar to the new aluminium architecture modular system, giving it significantly reduced weight and fuel efficiency.
