A new-look Nissan Patrol four-wheel-drive will arrive in time for 2020.
The full-sized Toyota LandCruiser rival has updated styling at the front and rear, wearing chiselled looks that bring it into line with large pick-ups such as the Nissan Titan.
The new face is followed at the back by a reprofiled rear with new lights and bumpers.
On the inside, a beefed-up airconditioning system joins an updated dash with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with the availability of luxury touches such as quilted leather seats.
It’s also safer than before, with intelligent forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection added to the car’s safety suite.
Power comes from an unchanged 5.6-litre petrol V8 with muscular 298kW and 560Nm outputs. Nissan has not offered a diesel Patrol since dropping the dated Y61 Patrol from its range.
Popular in the Middle East, the Patrol remains a petrol-only proposition in contrast with Australian tastes in the off-road and towing community.
That said, Nissan has benefited from Toyota’s decision to drop the V8 petrol LandCruiser from its range, giving buyers of large, eight-seat petrol-powered wagons little choice outside the Patrol.
The Patrol is expected to reach Australian and New Zealand showrooms before the end of 2019.
