While others writhe in the satisfaction of watching people get arrested, what I take in watching the world's cop shows is what their police cars are like.
With Police 10/7 beamed around the world, I feel New Zealand's fleet of Commodores rates well on the world stage. America's Ford Tauruses and Chargers are probably a slight step higher, with the UKs diet of dressed up Vauxhall Astras probably closer to the bottom of the pile.
But if there's one nation that has beautiful police cars (and I'm not including Dubai in this), it's Italy.
Their pale blue and white liveried fleet is likely the most iconic in Europe; helped along no doubt by some of the cars that have been lucky enough to wear the uniform — including a whole host of Lamborghinis that include the Gallardo and more recently the Huracan.
And now Alfa Romeo have stepped into the game, issuing two Polizia editions of their highly potent Giulia Veloces to the Police Academy in Rome — creating what might be the most beautiful four-door cop car platform in the world.
The Giulia is one of three different FCA platforms that have been newly gifted to Italy's police force; joined by Alfa Romeo's Giulietta hatchback and the Jeep Renegade.
Alfa Romeo are of course no stranger to such duties, with many of Italy's Polizia already rolling around in 159s. Their explosive Giulia Quadrifoglio is also already in service via a pair of medical cars that the company issued earlier this year.
