Gran Turismo Sport shaping up nicely for November 2016 release

Some might say that we're currently in a golden age for racing simulators. The Forza Motorsport and F1 franchises are as good as they've ever been, the latest DiRT is achieving some incredible acclaim from both critics and rallying fans, and Assetto Corsa and Project Cars are starting to hoist their own brands of remarkable realism to the console market and into the hands of mainstream gamers.

But the daddy of the genre has always been Gran Turismo, and the latest chapter in the franchise — Gran Turismo Sport — is coming later this year on November 15.

The first video to pair with the latest game has been released (embedded above), and it looks to be an absolute bell ringer for the eyeballs. Yamauchi-san, the name behind the storied series, told those at a presentation earlier this week that each car has been painstakingly recreated from scratch for the new game — where in the past certain car models were lifted from past titles.

It's been reported that the game will feature more than 120 cars, plus an FIA-approved online mode where players can fight for real prizes. The latter is no surprise, given that the game was produced in partnership with the FIA.

There's a swag of other new shiny bits as well; the newly replicated Tokyo Expressway and dirt-track settings should go down well; as should the hugely customizable 'Scapes' photo mode depicted in the attached trailer, which will let players place cars in the middle of an incredible selection of landscapes with a huge amount of options for car positioning and even camera settings.
