The current Hyundai Sonata, nee i45, nee ... Sonata ... has only been with us for two years. But already it looks like the South Korean marque are giving us an insight into what the next facelift of the large sedan is going to look like.
These two sketches were published on Hyundai's own Korean social media outlets, appearing to show the front and rear end of two different trim levels of the facelift model next to the current-generation Sonata as well as the outgoing i45.
The most exciting member of the pairing is obviously the Turbo model, which features a number of visual additives over the standard version, including quad exhaust tips, a diffuser, a meshed front grill, larger vents, and revised DRLs.
Not to overshadow the more restrained Sonata sketch, which itself looks to be a significant step forward in design over the current car — helping further align the model with the likes of the i30 and i40, both of which share the same distinctive grill.
The sketches come just a few months after Hyundai's sister company, Kia, revealed their rear-wheel drive Stinger GT sports sedan.
It's unknown just what the Sonata Turbo will have underneath (apart from, you know, a turbo), but we will just have to wait and see whether it will have the gusto to challenge the Stinger for the title of Korea's best sports sedan. The car could reportedly make a global debut at next month's New York Auto Show, where Hyundai are scheduled to have a range of Sonatas on display.
