Don't underestimate just how popular Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars still are these days.
Alongside modern gaming, smart phones, and so on, 'toy cars' might be seen as being a bit too agricultural and old fashioned. But, a bit like the debade of physical books versus e-books, there's a renaissance in play for cars.
These days you can buy a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car of pretty much anything — a far cry from when the Americanized Hot Wheels would only make Mustangs and Corvettes while Matchbox would stick to Jaguars and Aston Martins.
And among those new cars is a long list of cars from movies and TV shows made by Hot Wheels — five of them appearing in this quite remarkable video.
The age-old problem with these cars has always been not having enough pieces of track, but filmmakers 5MadMovieMakers and Mark Rober probably didn't have this problem when they embarked on this stupendous project. According to their behind the scenes video, 60 metres of track and a total of 122 different shots went into the final cut after three days of filming.
I won't go into any further detail, other than to say that I highly recommend watching it — whether you're young or old.
