  • Hyundai IONIQ 6 N delivers 478kW/770Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds.
  • Track-focused features include N Drift Optimiser, adaptive ECS dampers and a new N Battery system.
  • Charging from 10% to 80% takes about 18 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger.

Hyundai’s high-performance N division has pulled the covers off its second electric halo model, the Ioniq 6 N, at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Following in the slipstream of the acclaimed Ioniq 5 N, the new four-door “streamliner” channels 478kW and 770Nm through both axles, launching from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds using N Launch Control.

With a top speed of 257km/h and a suite of performance-focused features, the Ioniq 6 N is gunning for the title of ultimate all-rounder: part EV, part drift weapon, part everyday cruiser.

Science fiction meets race engineering

Underpinning the Ioniq 6 N is Hyundai’s updated N Battery system, optimised for thermal performance and rapid preconditioning across drag, sprint or endurance scenarios.

The 84kWh pack can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 18 minutes (on a 350kW charger, under ideal conditions), but it’s what the battery enables that steals the show.

An arsenal of N-specific software takes centre stage. There's N Grin Boost for 10-second power surges, N Drift Optimiser for precise oversteer antics, and N Pedal for agile cornering.

The in-house N Track Manager adds telemetry, ghost cars and lap analysis for weekend warriors chasing tenths.

Sound and sensation haven't been ignored either. N Active Sound+ offers selectable EV soundtracks from 'Ignition' to 'Lightspeed', while N e-Shift mimics the gear engagement of petrol performance cars. A synced N Ambient Shift Light even flashes shift cues in the cabin for added theatre.

“Harnessing power, battery intelligence, and suspension finesse, Ioniq 6 N delivers a compelling blend of speed, stability and comfort,” said Manfred Harrer, Head of Vehicle Development Tech Unit.

Looks that lean in

The exterior isn’t just about drama, although the swan-neck rear wing, widened fenders and Performance Blue Pearl paint do bring it.

Beneath the curves lies reworked suspension geometry, new stroke-sensing ECS dampers, and a lower roll centre - all engineered for both corner carving and daily comfort.

Braking is handled by 400mm front discs and four-piston callipers, with up to 0.6G of regenerative deceleration.

No final range figures have been disclosed yet, though Hyundai says the Ioniq 6 N will be offered in several markets with regional specs to come.

Still, if the goal was to turn up the volume on what an electric performance car can be without losing daily civility, Hyundai may have just found the sweet spot between sideways and sensible.
