The E24 6-Series is one of the best looking vehicles that BMW ever produced, from its iconic styling and aggressive front end, it's no surprise that these cars are getting increasingly sought after.

Being Alpina built, this E24 is one of only 130 examples in the world, and according to the seller, only 17 B7 Coupes came catalyst-equipped — making this model even rarer.

With the catalytic converter, the B7's 3.4-litre straight-six only produced 320hp compared to the standard coupe's 330hp, but had the upper hand when it came to torque. Featuring 520Nm at 2,400 rpm, the non-cat coupe only produced 512Nm at 3,000 rpm, which aided with low-end acceleration.

The old girl maxes out at 265 km/h and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds — a time that's quick for today's standards.

Alongside the engine numbers, the RM Sotheby's ad mentions the B7's compression numbers being lower than the standard coupe's at just 7.45:1.

Possibly the most outrageous aspect of this B7 Coupe is the special bright red interior, something that has its own story. Stamped in the car is a plaque that reads "Autosattlerei Wenger, Exklusiv Interieur", which hints at the fact that the whole interior must have been redone at some point of the car's life.

From the rare Alpina wheels to the Sony CDX-J10 CD player, this car is certainly a head turner, and the price that RM Sotheby's has it listed for reflects this.

This piece of stellar German engineering could be yours for anywhere between $271,000 and $309,989 NZD.

While it probably won't end up on our shores, you can get your fix of BMW's gorgeous red leather interior here
