Clarkson joins Reenee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey on Bridge Jones movie set
Jeremy Clarkson has sparked rumours he's bagged himself a role in the highly-anticipated Bridget Jones sequel as he was pictured on the London set on Tuesday.
The former Top Gear presenter cut a relaxed figure as he was spotted puffing on a cigarette in-between takes for the third installment in the much-loved franchise.
Jeremy, 55, gave away no clues regarding the nature of his role or the level of involvement he will have in Bridget Jones' Baby as he didn't look too dissimilar to his everyday self, dressed in a black two-piece suit.
The one-time BBC favourite ambled around the set, making the most of his free time as he may have been awaiting his all-important cue.
James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond will feature in a new Amazon-Prime programme.
Jeremy's spokesperson declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.
Although Jeremy was not joined by any members of the cast, it was unclear whether he was at the same set where leading stars Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth had been pictured filming what appeared to be a Christening scene earlier in the day.
Following his famous fracas with a BBC producer earlier in the year - which led to him being dropped by the channel.
He seemed to have somewhat redeemed himself as he was pictured engaging in friendly conversation with crew-members.
At the end of the last film, and after much drama in their personal lives, Bridget and Mark were engaged to be married, but in recently-shot scenes in London, Mark appeared close to another female character on the set, and neither Bridget nor Mark were wearing a wedding ring.
The third instalment - directed by Sharon Maguire - is thought to follow less of Helen Fielding's third book Mad About The Boy, in which Mark dies, and more of the author's old columns.
The film has, according to IMBD, been based on an original screenplay penned by Fielding with author David Nicholls, who is famed for his book and movie adaptations One Day and Starter For 10.
Daniel Cleaver, famously played by Hugh Grant, is not expected to return to Bridget's life, while new boy Patrick Dempsey - of Grey's Anatomy fame - is thought to be a love interest for the hapless blonde.
Dempsey. who is also a racecar driver of note, is scheduled to drive at next year's Leadfoot Festival on the Coromandel, on February 6 and 7. He is expected to drive a Porsche during the hillclimb event, held on New Zealand motorsport veteran Rod Millen's farm in Hahei.
