Scott Dixon headlines the Legend of Speed event / Picture Chevrolet Racing

Auckland motor industry leader Sir Colin Giltrap has thrown his support behind the Legends of Speed event at Vector Arena on Friday night (November 25).

“Legends of Speed is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the great success of past and present drivers and works to gather wider financial backing to both initiatives to ensure that Kiwis continue to foster the growth of motorsport in New Zealand,” said Michael Giltrap, joint managing director of the Giltrap Group.

“The Giltrap Group are proud to support an occasion that achieves this”

Four-time IndyCar champion and Indianapolis 500 race winner Scott Dixon headlines the event which includes top level kiwi racing icons, the majority of which, have received support from Sir Colin at some point in their career.

The drivers list includes WRC event winner Hayden Paddon and co-driver John Kennard, factory Porsche drivers Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber, V8 Suppercar drivers Scott McLaughlin, Fabian Coulthard, Shane van Gisbergen and Greg Murphy.

Other drivers include GT and Porsche ace Craig Baird, Asia Porsche Carrera Cup champion Chris van der Drift and Japanese Lexus Super GT and current Japanese Formula 3 champion Nick Cassidy.

The black tie event will celebrate New Zealand’s international motorsport history.

Motorsport fans will be able to tune in on the Legends of Speed coverage through Giltrap Group’s live photo stream, and Facebook Live videos.

Proceeds from the event will help fund New Zealand Elite Motorsport Academy and support the current Bring Back WRC New Zealand campaign.
