Hyundai and Kia are on a roll with their luxury and performance offerings. It's all about brand re-positioning; the idea that these cars could be considered as genuine contenders on merit with the best in the business.
Their SUV space is well rounded, but it does lack a proper big-boy luxury machine; a space that's obviously booming at the moment.
Kia unveiled their Telluride SUV concept in 2016, and at the time many noted how production ready it looked. Well, according to new reports, it might slide through the production process without much in the way of changes.
The news comes courtesy of Motor Trend in the US, who base their call largely on spy sightings of the three-row SUV. Tenuous, sure, but following the success of the Stinger the manufacturer is riding a high.
The Yank publication are also reporting it'll most likely be V6-powered, Genesis-platform based, and possibly have a Hyundai cousin.
Cynics will adjust their monocles and question whether Kia can handle the jandal in the upscale SUV space. Well, many asked the same question of the Stinger and, arguably, were proven wrong ...
Perhaps the main issue is where it fits in a line-up with the current seven-seat Sorento. Could the two exist in the same space?
