The Goodwood Festival of Speed is always an amazing event that is well worth attending if you get the chance, but this year's event is lining up to be something truly special indeed.

That is because organisers are preparing an "unprecedented celebration" of the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship at the 2025 Festival of Speed, taking place from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th of July.

Gordon Murray Automotive is the featured brand at the festival in 2025, which is particularly fitting given his immense contribution to F1 over the years.

With Formula 1 officially represented, the event promises a comprehensive look at the sport's illustrious history, structured around six distinct classes that will showcase different eras and aspects of Formula 1.

Organisers say it will be the largest celebration ever hosted at the festival, featuring nearly 100 Formula 1 cars and appearances from notable figures in motorsport.

Every era of F1 will be covered, including the incredibly innovative 1970s and 80s era.

The six classes are:

  • Prologue: This class will cover the history of Grand Prix racing before the establishment of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950. It will specifically look back to the inaugural AIACR Manufacturers’ World Championship of 1925, offering a glimpse into the origins of top-tier motorsport.
  • The Pioneers: Focussing on the first decade of the Formula 1 World Championship, this class will chart the period when the sport was in its humble beginnings and its subsequent growth into the most coveted prize in motorsport.
  • The Innovators: Celebrating the rich history of technical innovation within Formula 1, this class will highlight how teams and designers have consistently sought to gain an advantage over their rivals through groundbreaking engineering and design.
  • The Underdogs: This class is dedicated to lesser-known names in Formula 1 and will tell the stories of those who "conquered seemingly insurmountable odds", as well as those whose time in the sport was perhaps less successful and who dropped out of the race.
  • The Champions: As the name suggests, this class will focus on the drivers, teams, and cars that have claimed the ultimate prize in Formula 1. Notably, there are at least eight World Champions scheduled to attend the event.
  • The Teams: This class will bring the celebration into the present day by featuring the sport’s current teams, drivers, and cars.
Modern F1 machinery will also be well represented at this year's festival.

"We are thrilled to be working with Goodwood to present this celebration of 75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship at the Festival of Speed," said Stefano Domenicali, President & CEO of Formula 1.

"The Duke and his team have an incredible ability to bring the past, present and future of motorsport to life, and I look forward to joining them as we celebrate this landmark anniversary together."

The Duke of Richmond, founder of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, also expressed his excitement and urged fans to look out for further announcements regarding attending drivers and teams. Tickets to the 2025 festival are on sale now at the official website.
