NZ's 'favourite' Mustang, worth $115,000, up for auction

Ford Mustang buyers could beat the waiting list by winning a Mustang being auctioned by Auckland vehicle dealership John Andrew, to raise funds for charity.

There are back orders on the model until next year, but the winner of the charity auction next month will be able to drive away in the sports car next month.

The car will be listed on-line with a $1 reserve, at 10pm on Thursday June 9, and the auction will conclude on the night of Thursday June 16, at John Andrew's annual Camp Quality charity black tie dinner and auction.

Camp Quality is a volunteer, non-profit charitable trust, providing annual summer camps and year-round support at no cost to help children and their families overcome the challenges of living with cancer.

One of the major benefits of bidding on this Mustang is the winner of the auction will get to drive it away on Friday June 17.

Back in June 2015, John Andrew Ford conducted a series of online polls to discover New Zealand's favorite Mustang.

The polls were to upgrade the Camp Quality Mustang with packages as voted the best by the New Zealand public. The polls determined that the Mustang would be a fastback manual in magnetic colour, equipped with BM13 Savini D cast forged alloys wheels and a CTB/Ford Performance Racing Stage 3 power upgrade package for the engine producing 500kw/670BHP.

These upgrades, including other cosmetic additions to the Mustang have been donated through a number of John Andrew's suppliers and take the vehicle’s RRP to an excess of $115,000.

“Mustang fans around the world have longed for this iconic car to be built in factory RHD and at last we have it,” said John Andrew Ford sales manager Shawn Rushby.

"By bidding on this car you have the opportunity to jump the queue and take delivery as early as June 17."

John Andrew Ford dealer principal Paul Brown says Camp Quality does more than just providing children living with cancer with a holiday camp.

“It provides them with the opportunity to just be children and do what children do. Camp Quality does all this through donations, which is why we’re proud to support such a worthwhile cause and why we believe it’s so important that we raise money for them,” he says.

Bidders can bid at home or buy a ticket to attend the Camp Quality Black Tie Auction and Dinner at John Andrew in Auckland. Tickets are limited and available to purchase from John Andrew at $2,500 for a table of ten, or $275 per individual ticket.
