Ferrari celebrated its 70th anniversary at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with 70 historic, iconic and championship-winning Ferrari cars completing the famed hillclimb circuit, before being lined up on the Lawn of Goodwood House to create a "Ferrari Moment".
The parade was led by the first car to wear the Ferrari badge, the 1947 Ferrari 125 S, and Maranello's latest model, the limited edition LaFerrari Aperta, that is the star of the company's anniversary celebrations.
Multiple championship-winning single seaters and endurance racers from the Scuderia Ferrari's illustrious racing history joined the two iconic cars to create a display at the heart of the annual Festival of Speed.
These cars were driven by motorsport greats Derek Bell, Sir Jackie Stewart and Dario Franchitti, as well as Marc Gene (Scuderia Ferrari F1), Alessandro Pier Guidi (FIA World Endurance), Davide Rigon and Olivier Beretta (Ferrari GT).
Ferrari's XX programme cars, the FXX and FXX K were driven by Factory GT Drivers Sam Bird and James Calado, while the 599 XX was piloted by ex-Scuderia Ferrari driver, Rene Arnoux.
The LaFerrari Aperta boasts the most extreme performance achieved by a Ferrari production car, and features advanced and innovative technical solutions that will filter down to the rest of the Ferrari range.
The LaFerrari is the first car with hybrid technology to come out of Maranello.
The 6262cc V12 produces 800 CV and the electric motor a further 12o kW (163 CV) for a total of over 960 CV.
Thanks to the huge technological leap forward represented by the HY-KERS system, the LaFerrari is the most high performance and efficient Ferrari built. Making full use of Ferrari's F1 expertise with KERS systems, which has been further developed for application to road cars, the HY-KERS guarantees maximum integration between the V12 and the electric motor, blending extreme performance with maximum efficiency.
The high levels of torque available at low revs from the electric motor allowed the engineers to optimise the internal combustion engine's performance at higher revs, thus providing unending power throughout the rev range and a maximum torque peak of over 900 Nm.
The Aperta has a claimed0-to-100km/h time of 3 seconds, a 0-to-200km/h time of 7 seconds, and maximum speed of 350km/h.
