No car design on earth comes under more scrutiny than the breezy soft lines of the Porsche 911. It's a silhouette that's been with us since 1963, and it's over that period plenty have pondered why it's remained largely untouched in appearance. Of course the 911s of today are decorated with the tinsel of change; LED lights and dozens of gaping vents taking the edge of what was once a beautifully spartan canvas, but you can still tell that it's one of the family.
And that comment even extends to come of the zanier members of the group, like the GT3. They've always been just a little more reserved than their other supercar rivals, as if to respect where they've come from.
So what would a 991-series Porsche 911 look like if they completely let go of this pursuit of subtlety? Well, it would probably look like TopCar's latest ‘Stinger GTR’ kit creation.
Surprisingly it's not based on a GT3, but a Turbo or Turbo S. Primarily, the kit is meant to make your Turbo look more like the GT3, but the eagle eyed will note the presence of a number of little extras. These include the proud ‘TopCar’ insignia and exposed carbon panel in front of the doors.
The key difference though is that the new TopCar panels are made out of vacuum-formed carbon fiber, with the company leaving carbon exposed in certain sections. This changes the entire aesthetic of the car, turning what would normally look like quite a mild option in the race for pace into something quite deathly.
Should a buyer want the Porsche's bite to match its visual bark, then TopCar can handle that stuff too — with their engine upgrades capable at their extremes of lifting the Stinger GTR to 560kW. Remember too that unlike many other 911s, the Turbo line are all-wheel drive, which makes that figure particularly mouth watering.
Considering power, TopCar's other upgrades that include exhaust and brakes, and the Jenny Craig trip courtesy of carbon-fiber panels, and the Stinger GTR is something of a demon.
