Three very different beasts attack the quarter-mile to find the ultimate track warrior
The Ariel Atom is an incredible machine, having attracted a thick and persistent amount of praise over its tenure as one of the most insane and radical (ha) sports cars on the planet.
However, in comparing the exoskeltal beasty with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and the best of Bavaria, many auto journalists and journalistas miss the point of the Atom. The aforementioned are not its rivals; bikes and creatures of the track are.
Thankfully Autocar UK and Pistonheads.com knew this, and decided to pit an Ariel Atom 3.5R against a Yamaha R1 and pro-racer Liam Doran's Citroen DS3 Rallycross gun in quarter-mile straight-line battle.
While the result may shock some, those familiar with the three will likely have predicted it from the outset. Personally, I can't help but wonder if we'd see an alternate result with a newer bike...
