Dutton Garage, a world renowned retailer of exotic, luxury and classic cars, has opened its first and only New Zealand showroom in Christchurch.
The luxury and classic car dealership boasts an extensive collections of vehicles from some of the world's most exotic manufacturers, including New Zealand’s largest group of Ferraris in its Sydenham showroom.
Just recently it had eight Ferraris for sale, worth collectively over $3 million dollars. It currently has many millions of dollars worth of stock in New Zealand.
Dutton New Zealand is part of the global Dutton brand, with the company's buyers' constantly scouting worldwide markets to buy rare and classic cars. They use no brokers so there is no middle man.
Dutton Garage has the most expensive Ferrari on New Zealand's used car market, a 2010 599 GTO with a $1.5m asking price.
The dealership is locally owned by Royden Mauger who has worked for the Dutton brand as a buyer for over 20 years but has now taken on the challenge of bringing the brand to New Zealand. The cars he has bought into Christchurch so far have been sold all over the country and across the world, but it is Cantabrians who get the chance to have a first look at the New Zealand based vehicles.
Mauger also continues to travel the world buying classic cars. Last year, he was involved in one of the greatest barn finds in history of one of the world’s rarest Ferrari’s.
Dutton Group General Manager Shaun Baker says he’s thrilled to see the iconic brand launch in Christchurch. “Geographically it doesn’t matter where in New Zealand we are based as our cars sell worldwide, and Royden wanted to bring the brand to his home town of Christchurch," said Baker.
Dutton New Zealand is already growing and we can’t wait to see what 2018 brings.”
Despite the value of its cars, Dutton prides itself on being unpretentious, welcoming members of the public to come and see the cars, bring the kids and take a photo.
Mauger is keen to make the Christchurch branch the same. “We welcome kids, we want people who love cars but may never purchase one like this to come and see for themselves. We recognise people’s love of these stunning and luxurious classic vehicles.”
The showroom will have an official opening later this summer.
