PHOTOS RELEASED OF NEW LAFERRARI BUT ORDER BOOK IS CLOSED

The open-top version of the LaFerrari slyly revealed on Top Gear earlier this month, has finally been announced.

The Italian company this week released pictures of the new supercar, also confirming the production run has already been sold. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay told Top Gear viewers this month that he was one of the lucky few to buy the car.

Ferrari is withholding the name, technical details and the number it will build until the Paris Motor Show in October. But it said this week the limited edition model is “aimed at clients and collectors who refuse to compromise on the joy of al fresco driving even when at the wheel of a supercar”.

The new limited-edition special series will be available with a removable carbon-fibre hard top and a removable soft top.

It has the same running gear and performance figures as the original LaFerrari, sporting an 800 cv V12 (with a specific power output of 128 cv/l) coupled with a 120 kW electric motor (163 cv), unleashing 963 cv in total.

Ferrari says significant modifications have been made to the chassis with the aim of retaining the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness as the coupe version. The car’s aerodynamics have been further honed to guarantee the same drag coefficient when driving in the open configuration.

The company says all examples have sold after a preview to clients, and the order book is closed.
