The Skoda Superb sedan is a crisply suited example of less-is-more styling. Leave the shouty stuff to baby brother Octavia RS; the Superb sedan remains restrained and elegant, yet with just enough left-field cred to turn heads.

What's more, even in range-opening $46,900 1.8 TSI guise, it arrives with a comfort and convenience feature set that would be the envy of Euro rivals boasting sticker prices $10k higher.

And look, we know you don't buy a new car to sit in the back, but this is perhaps where the Skoda Superb sedan plays its strongest suit. The Superb's interior space is limousine-like.

Skoda has somehow crafted an executive sedan with masses of rear legroom (regardless of where the front seats are set) and a deep boot that'll swallow all manner of awkwardly shaped objects (even golf clubs if you must insist), yet outwardly the car is nearly 100mm shorter than a Holden Commodore. How on Earth did they do that?
