Kiwi vehicle buyers will be in for a treat in the upcoming months with the launch of a number of new products in New Zealand that were revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week.
As already reported in Driven, Holden will replace the Captiva compact SUV with the newly revealed Equinox.
Competitor Ford also revealed its all-new EcoSport at Detroit, a vast improvement over the outgoing model that had a very 1990s look about it.
Instead the new compact SUV from Ford loses its spare wheel situated on the tailgate (though that still swings in the wrong direction for Kiwi buyers).
US buyers will being getting a taste of the Ranger ute that is available here, after the company announced it will be sold in the US from 2019.
At a packed stadium off site from the Detroit show, Ford also announced that the Bronco will be revitalised in 2020 (though no images were revealed) while also showing the new F-150.
The F-150 had just won Pick-Up of the Year at the show.
Sitting near it at Ford stand within the Detroit show was the fabulous GT. While Kiwi buyers may be begging to buy the exclusive sports car, no word if anyone has been successful.
Though one vehicle that won praise for its looks was Kia’s Stinger, a coupe-style four-door sedan that looks like a sophisticated version of the Optima.
Also gaining grown up looks was the 2018 Toyota Camry that will replace the Australian built one in our market.
The Camry is the USA’s top selling vehicle and with the new angled styling it should gain new buyers in New Zealand, instead of being a fleet favourite.
Special mention also goes to Jeep with the all-new Compass. While the Grand Cherokee dominates in New Zealand this SUV will capture fans.
