With production of the Beetle coming to an end in 2019, we asked four Beetle owners to tell us what they love most about their iconic cars.

I bought my Rose 5 years ago and since then we’ve driven all over the country together.

She is an old bug that squeaks and rattles like all old cars do. Even though her horn doesn’t work and her sémaphores are a bit dodgy, she’s a beautiful example of a classic untampered Beetle.

Luckily when I met my fiancée, he too was a VW nut and between us we now have 9 VWs. Rose will always hold a special place in my heart because when we announced our pregnancy, both Rose and my fiancée’s Kombi were in the background.

Because of its unique design by Ferdinand Porsche, the Beetle’s distinct shape has gone unrivalled throughout the years. I don’t think there’ll ever be another car quite like it, most likely because it was a sign of the times.
