Tik Tok has been known for trending challenges that are risky and sometimes outright dangerous.
This recent challenge has seen users of the app loosening off the lug nuts on the cars of innocent bystanders for fun. The challenge is a straight-forward one, choose a car, loosen the lug nuts, film the aftermath and post it to the app.
This is not only highly dangerous, but illegal. In most areas, this is considered vehicle tampering, and could land you with jail time and a hefty fine to pay the owner back for any damaged caused by the prank.
A victim of the prank in Massachusetts had a wheel fall of the vehicle while it was driving.
US teachers have voiced their concern with the return to school, as many of these challenges are performed by youth.

Interstate Towing in Chicopee, Massachusetts spoke with a local news outlet, saying there has been a spike in lug nut-related towing incidents.
“This is not a joke, people can get seriously hurt or die,” said Operations Manager Stephen Gonneville. “If a tire comes off and you’re driving at a highway speed bad things could happen. Somebody could hit a tree. Someone could hit a telephone pole, become maimed or fatally injured and it wouldn’t be good.”
He also states that the company has experienced an increase in jobs fixing the lug nuts on vehicles that have fallen victim to the challenge, but thankfully many did not suffer serious consequences.
