Welcome to perhaps the shortest police chase of all time

Oh, that hasn't gone well.

Last friday, a member of Minnesota's Fridley Police department and their trusty Ford Explorer had the opposite of one of those “better work stories” they used to bandy about on television.

Spotting a speeder / certified pillock that had flashed through the red light at the same intersection, the cop activated their blues and twos only to get body slammed by traffic (naturally in the form of a Toyota Camry).

Fox has reported that the officer sustained minor injuries, as did the drivers of the Camry. Sadly they've also reported that the initial perp got away without charge.

Here's the question I now have; who's liable in the case of cop Explorer versus beige Camry? I'm going to side with the officer seeing as they did have their lights on and took their time in navigating the intersection instead of just booting it Starsky and Hutch style. However, it'll be interesting to see whether the Minnesota State Patrol, who are investigating the crash, will see otherwise.
