Given that the days of seeing a Falcon racing in Australia's Supercars series are long gone, it only makes sense to see the iconic Holden Commodore bowing out at the end of next season.

Though Ford's Mustang has been racing against the Commodore for some time now, the more natural rivalry will commence at the start of 2023 when it lines up alongside the Camaro ZL1.

Released just this morning, the Camaro ZL1 is the result of a collaboration between Supercars, Triple Eight Race Engineering and General Motors.

Interestingly, the same team that designed the next-generation Camaro ZL1 for NASCAR were penned this racer for the Australian series. It's said to feature a "muscular appearance and unmistakable resemblance to [its] road going equivalent."

Under the bonnet will sit a Chevrolet Racing 5.7 litre LTR V8 engine, which is the latest in Chevrolet's family of aluminium small block engines.

“The look and sound of the new Gen3 Camaro is just incredible,” said Marc Ebolo, Managing Director of GM Australia and New Zealand.

“The passion and excitement of success on the track has been such an important part of our Holden brand DNA for so long. This represents an all-new era, and Chevrolet Racing and our close alignment with GM Motorsport will be an ongoing demonstration of our passion for competition and commitment to the sport."

Fans can expect to see this all-new Camaro ZL1 racer line up alongside the new Ford Mustang racer at the first Supercars race of the 2023 season.
