- Lots of show, no extra go for special-edition Corvette Stingray R.
- Just 50 examples for Australia and New Zealand.
- First of 2026-model Corvettes to arrive, with new interior layout.
General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) will be kicking off the updated 2026 Chevrolette Corvette with an exclusive model for New Zealand and Australia: the Stingray R.

It looks the part, but fair warning: it's just about looks. The mechanicals of the 3LT coupe base car are unchanged, so it's less a "limited production model" (as GMSV says) than a nice package of factory options delivered in factory right-hand drive format. Just 50 are being offered across Australasia, with customer deliveries expected in January next year.
The Stingray R features 20-spoke gloss black forged aluminium wheels with red stripe, a carbon fibre roof, special build plate and a package of detail upgrades including "Carbon Flash" trim/badging, GT2 seats and red seatbelts.
The Stingray R is $245,000, which is hard to put into proper context because GMSV is yet to announce pricing for its revised 2026 Stingray, E-Ray and ZO6 models. That'll come later in the year, says the company.

The main change for the factory-built right-hand drive Corvette is a new "re-imagined" interior, with a reconfigured centre console. There are also new connected services including integrated Google infotainment.
