- New flagship for Chery SUV range.
- Seven seats, Super Hybrid AWD with 315kW.
- First orders eligible for deposit-related discount.
Chery New Zealand is expanding its SUV lineup with a new model that chief operating officer Lucas Harris says "offers luxuries that are usually reserved for vehicles with considerably higher pricetags": the Tiggo 9.

The $66,990 Tiggo 9 is a huge $15k step up from the Tiggo 8; both models are 7-seaters. But it's also a whole lot more SUV, with an extra 56mm in the wheelbase and 76m longer overall.
The "Super Hybrid" plug-in powertrain moves from a FWD format in the Tiggo 7/8 to triple-motor AWD technology in the Tiggo 9, with maximum outputs of 315kW/580Nm. The rear axle is exclusively electric.
The 34kWh battery gives a claimed 170km electric range (NEDC) and an overall hybrid range of 1200km.

The powertrain technology is similar to that used in the Omoda 9 (from Chery's sub-brand), although the Chery version has a bit less power. It's also slightly larger and boasts 3-row seating, whereas the Omoda 9 is strictly a 5-seater.
Chery says the Tiggo 9's dimensions ensure "ample room for the whole family".

The 9 is the first Tiggo to feature automatic parking. The interior has a 10.25-inch driver instrument cluster and 15.6-inch infotainment screen, panoramic sunroof, front massaging seats, 14-speaker Sony sound system including 2 driver headrest speakers, 50W wireless charging pad, plus “Hello Chery” integrated voice command.
The new model arrives in dealerships in November. Orders from now until November 30 are eligible for a bonus where Chery match the customer's deposit from $500-$2000 (in $500 increments) as a discount on the final purchase price.
