- ICE-only models cut $8-10k from price of Super Hybrids.
- Petrol 1.5-litre engine retained, with 108kW/210Nm.
- Familiar Urban and Ultimate specifications carry over.
Chery is expanding the New Zealand Tiggo 7 SUV lineup with two petrol-powered variants. Previously, the Tiggo 7 has only been available with a Chery Super Hybrid (CHS) powertrain, which includes plug-in charging and an electric-only range of 90km.
The new petrol models keep the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine from the CHS versions, but ditch the battery and electric motor. In the Tiggo 7 ICE the engine makes 108kW/210Nm, drives the front wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and returns 6.9l/100km, according to Chery.
Powertrian aside, the petrol Tiggo 7 matches the broad specification of the CHS, with $34,990 Urban and $39,990 Ultimate models. The CHS versions are $42,990 and $49,990 respectively.
The Urban features 18-inch wheels, reversing camera, twin 12.3-inch displays and dual-zone air conditioning.
The Ultimate adds equipment including panoramic roof, ambient lighting, synthetic leather seats, 360-degree camera and power tailgate.
The Tiggo 7 petrol arrives in showrooms this month.
