Chinese brand Chery will re-enter the Kiwi market with the Tiggo 4 compact SUV in July. It'll be the first Chery-branded model to be sold here since 2014 (very much the bad old days of the brand in terms of quality), although its Omoda and Jaecoo sub-brands were introduced here last year. They'll all remain separate model lines.

Chery boasts the Tiggo 4 is already "one of Australia’s most awarded and affordable compact SUVs", with 6400 sold since September 2024. Prices have not yet been announced for NZ, but across the Tasman it starts at just A$23,990.
However, there is some news on powertrain and specification. Two Tiggo 4 variants will be offered locally: Urban and Ultimate. Both are powered by a 108kW/210Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Key features include dual 10.25-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, "Hello Chery" voice commands and 7 airbags. The Ultimate features a 360-degree camera system, "artificial leather" upholstery, selectable ambient lighting and a 15W mobile phone charger.

“We’re excited to bring the Tiggo 4 to New Zealand – a smart, stylish SUV that has already proven its value in Australia,” says Lucas Harris, chief operating officer of Chery ANZ.
“With modern features, outstanding ownership benefits and an unbeatable value proposition, the Tiggo 4 will hit the mark for Kiwi families and first-time SUV buyers alike.”
