Over the weekend, Kiwi driver Brendon Hartley managed to claim his second Le Mans victory while Toyota claimed it's third consecutive win in the prestigious endurance race.
It was also the third consecutive win for Hartley's teammates Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima who have been with Toyota for years, whereas the Kiwi claimed his first win with Porsche back in 2017.
"To win it with two different manufacturers feels amazing,’’ Hartley said.
“I feel at home here, I love it."
At 30, Brendon Hartley has had quite an impressive career in motorsport, making 25 starts 25 starts in Formula One for Torro Rosso between 2017-2018, and moving into Formula E in recent years.
First starting in 1923, Le Mans is one of the most iconic races on the motorsport calendar, gathering more than 252,000 fans last year. For obvious reasons, there was no one in the stands over the weekend.
“We miss the fans,” Hartley said. “I look forward to seeing all the fans again.”
