The mystery of the wounded Italian stallions

So what's happened here then.

Well if there's anything we've learned over the last day or so it's that much like cats, dogs have nine lives too. And on the surface of things this is just another example of one finding itself a lucky escape from the wrath of the automobile; though it came at the cost of two prancing horses.

Taking place in Lijiang, Yunnen Provence, China, a driver and their brand new white Ferrari 488 had to slam on the anchors to avoid a dog scurrying across the road — according to Chinese media reports.

While they was able to avoid the dog, a fellow silver 488 wasn't able to avoid them; subsequently plowing into the other Ferrari before hitting a median fence.

But that's just where the story begins ... Why were two new 488s driving so close to each other? And why were their number plates front and rear both covered up? Further complicating the story, as reported, is that the two drivers are friends.

With no dead dog found at the scene obviously, there is speculation from Chinese reports that the pair of Italian supercars were street racing and both drivers simply ran out of talent on a busy street. You would hope that in today's era of CCTV footage, that some kind of evidence will confirm what really did happen.

Or maybe it was Colonel Mustard in the library with the candlestick ...
