- The BMW Motorrad Vision CE debuts as an electric concept for urban single-track mobility.
- A tubular metal cage with integrated seat belt enables safe riding without helmets or conventional protective clothing.
- The Vision CE includes a self-balancing function, long wheelbase design and matte white with neon accents.
BMW Motorrad has pulled the covers off its latest concept: the Vision CE, a forward-looking experiment in what city riding could look like when design, tech and sustainability collide. It’s set to debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich.
Helmet hair, begone
The Vision CE takes a bold cue from BMW’s past. Remember the BMW C1 scooter from the early 2000s? That quirky roofed machine promised helmet-free commuting thanks to built-in safety gear.
Two decades on, BMW is reimagining the idea with a sleeker, more sophisticated approach. The centrepiece is a tubular metal “cage” frame paired with an integrated seat belt, designed to protect riders without the need for helmets or heavy gear.
Style meets substance
BMW says the Vision CE is a showcase of how electric single-track vehicles could evolve for crowded cities. Its proportions are stretched and airy, thanks to a long wheelbase and low-set cage, while the mix of matte white panels, black contrasts and neon red highlights gives it a sharp, technical look.
Even the seat gets the concept treatment, finished in matte material with integrated lettering.
There’s tech beneath the style, too. A balancing function means the bike can hold itself upright when stopped. No more awkward foot shuffling at the lights. Combined with a fully electric drivetrain, the Vision CE embodies BMW’s pledge to keep future mobility both emission-free and emotionally engaging.
The bigger picture
The Vision CE follows BMW’s growing electric two-wheeler family, which already includes the CE 04 scooter (on sale since 2022) and the smaller, playful CE 02 (introduced in 2024).
Both have proven there’s demand for stylish, battery-powered commuting. With the Vision CE, BMW is signalling that the next leap won’t just be about range or performance but about how urban riders want to live, move and even dress.
As BMW Motorrad puts it, the Vision CE offers “a casual, carefree riding experience” that’s as much about freedom as function. Whether commuters embrace a helmet-free future remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: BMW intends to keep pushing the boundaries of what two wheels can mean in the electric era.
