Like everything in the world, the addition of internet connectivity to cars has made it possible to communicate with the whole world from almost anywhere within it, but BMW has gone the other way.
BMW NZ recently revealed that the advanced in-car technology was used to remind around 8000 customers in New Zealand of the government's protocols around driving in lockdown.
According to BMW, this message read: “BMW Group encourages you to follow the Government’s advice. Please stay at home for your safety.”
While it didn't prevent anyone from going anywhere, it was an insight into what we can expect to see as cars slowly grow smarter over the next few years.
When talking about this message, BMW NZ Managing Director Karol Abrasowicz-Made said: “The New Zealand Government has put commendable measures in place in an effort to contain and control the infection and BMW Group moved quickly to support those efforts and help amplify the “stay home, stay safe” message to our valued customers."
