- BMW M has launched three exclusive in-car apps: M Cockpit, M Drag Meter and M Channel.
- Initial availability is with the new BMW iX3 using M Sport or M Sport Pro packages.
- The My BMW app gains an integrated BMW M Community, initially for eligible German-market M drivers.
BMW M is leaning harder into the software side of performance, rolling out a trio of new in-car apps alongside upgrades to the My BMW smartphone app.
The aim is simple enough: make the everyday experience of owning and driving an M-badged BMW feel more immersive, more informative and less dull.
The initial rollout targets the new BMW iX3 fitted with the M Sport or M Sport Pro packages, with broader availability promised for other BMW M models running BMW Operating System X in the future.
Data for drivers who

The first of the new apps is M Cockpit, which turns the central display into a configurable performance hub. It shows real-time data covering driving dynamics, chassis behaviour, powertrain information and even geodata. Drivers can set up to five custom dashboards, tailoring what they see depending on whether they’re cruising, pressing on, or just indulging their inner engineer.
BMW M says the goal is to make the car’s behaviour more transparent, giving drivers deeper insight into what’s happening beneath the surface as they drive.
“The fascination with sporty and highly dynamic driving is what drives the BMW M brand,” said Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President for Brand, Customers, and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “Our new BMW M in-car apps give drivers even deeper insight into their vehicle and expand the range of possible uses. This makes the joy of driving even more tangible in everyday life.”
Gentlemen, start your stopwatches

For those who enjoy measuring performance rather than merely feeling it, M Drag Meter adds a dose of gamification. Designed primarily for drag-strip use, it records longitudinal dynamics such as acceleration and deceleration, along with reaction times when launching from standstill.
Using GPS-supported speed and distance data, the app can display up to four measurement criteria at once, with customisation options for drivers who like to fine-tune their metrics. It’s very much about numbers, bragging rights and repeatable results—no guesswork required.
Killing time, M-style

Rounding out the trio is M Channel, BMW M’s first dedicated in-car media channel. Aimed at charging stops and rest breaks, it streams on-demand BMW M video content directly to the central display, complete with high-quality playback and immersive audio.
The content spans how-to videos, brand stories, motorsport features and information on offerings like the BMW Driving Academy, effectively turning downtime into light M-flavoured entertainment.
Beyond the car itself, BMW is also expanding the My BMW app by integrating the BMW M Community, initially for the German market. Eligible M drivers gain access to exclusive content, events, partner offers and a platform to connect with other enthusiasts. Wider market availability has not been disclosed yet.
