- BMW NZ has revealed aggressive pricing for the first Neue Klasse model to arrive here.
- The BMW iX3 will initially only be available in 50 xDrive guise, with more on the way.
- It is expected to arrive locally sometime in the middle of this year.
BMW has officially announced New Zealand pricing for the BMW iX3, which is scheduled to arrive locally in mid-2026, initially only in 50 xDrive guise priced at $125,900, significantly undercutting both the Audi Q6 e-tron ($134,990 to $169,990) and Porsche Macan Electric ($161,800 to $224,900).
The iX3 50 xDrive features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive drivetrain producing 345kW of power and 645Nm of torque that will see the mid-size SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 210km/h, placing it closest in terms of performance to the $169,900 Audi SQ6 e-tron (360kW and 4.4 seconds) and the $168,400 Porsche Macan 4 Electric (300kW and 5.2 seconds).
Equipped with a 108kWh battery and sixth-generation eDrive technology, the iX3 boasts an impressive driving range of up to 805km (WLTP) and its 800-volt architecture supports 400kW DC fast-charging, which can add more than 350km of range in roughly 10 minutes, or charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes. For home or office charging, 22kW AC charging will also be standard for New Zealand customers.
The interior of the iX3 debuts BMWs new BMW Panoramic Vision system, a display that projects key vehicle information across the entire width of the lower windscreen from A-pillar to A-pillar. This is managed by a new electronic architecture comprising four high-performance computers that oversee everything from driving dynamics to infotainment.
BMW calls this system the “Heart of Joy” and claims it coordinates the drivetrain and chassis to ensure "unprecedented precision and dynamism".
The New Zealand specification for the iX3 50 xDrive includes a high level of standard equipment, including an M Sport Package and 20-inch alloy wheels, a Harman Kardon HiFi audio system, a panoramic glass sunroof with climate comfort glazing, heated multifunctional seats, and advanced safety tech including Parking Assistant Plus and Active Cruise Control.
While the 50 xDrive is the initial launch offering, BMW has indicated that further fully electric variants are expected to follow in the future.
