McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is the super car makers in-house personalisation service for those who are not satisfied with the options list in a generic brochure.

We've already seen what they're capable of. After the international release of the first model in McLaren's second-generation Super series range, the 720S, MSO flexed its creative prowess with the new model with the 720 Velocity.

But that car was effectively a show piece for what MCO can do, now, McLaren have revealed one of the first MSO 720S creations someone has actually paid for.

Commissioned by Cuban-born entrepreneur, philanthropist, and self-described 'car nut', Michael Fux, the one-off McLaren 720S made its first public appearance on the 'Concept Lawn' during the Californian Concourse d'Elegance last weekend.

Fux has a collection of around 130 vehicles, including 25 Ferraris, 12 Porsches, 11 Aston Martins and six Rolls-Royces - one of his older Ferrari's was the only road-legal FXX we previewed a few months back.

Fux has also previously purchased McLaren 12C in McLaren Orange, a 12C Spider in bespoke purple and a McLaren P1 in bespoke green.

With such a vast collection of expensive metal in his collection, Flux made sure the 720S would stand out, opting to have the car painted in ‘Fux Fuchsia,’ a special hue that was originally developed by Rolls-Royce and subsequently redeveloped by MSO. Mr Flux holds exclusive rights to its use on any other McLaren vehicle.

Fux Fuchsia also features as a detail on the steering wheel, contrasting with the platinum finish of the alloy.  The door appliqués, a pinstripe on the steering wheel and even the rear-view mirror are all finished in the same body colour, providing highlights in a cabin that has been perosnalised from headlining to cup holder – and almost everything in between – in MSO Bespoke white leather with white stitching. White Alcantara floor mats with white stitching complete the theme.

In addition to the bespoke elements of the vehicle, the exhaust and window surrounds are in Stealth grey finish and carbon fibre components from the MSO Defined range have also been specified.  These can be ordered on any McLaren, of any colour.

“Challenging the art of the possible to meet the most demanding customer requirements and then delivering beyond expectations are integral to the service that McLaren Special Operations offers,” commented Jolyon Nash, McLaren Automotive Executive Director, Global Sales and Marketing.

“MSO provides McLaren owners with virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and tastes; unique paint colours and finishes, custom leather and stitching and exotic materials are all available within a bespoke commission, while beyond this there are opportunities all the way up to complete vehicles designed to individual specification.”

Due to the differing levels of personalisation MSO offer, pricing details are not disclosed for their final creations. But for some perspective, the McLaren 720S starts at $436,000 locally, before you've ticked any boxes...

Yet if sir wants, MSO can ensure sir gets.
