Limited-run Continental GT sheds weight, seats and restraint.

  • Bentley’s new Supersports uses a strengthened 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 490kW/800Nm.
  • Carbon fibre components and removed rear cabin reduce overall weight to under two tonnes.
  • Production begins in late 2026 with 500 individually numbered units delivered globally from 2027.

Bentley has taken the Continental GT and given it the most un-Bentley makeover imaginable: rear-wheel drive, a two-seat cabin and a kerb weight under two tonnes.

The new Supersports arrives as the fourth model to wear the storied name, marking 100 years since the original “Super Sports” and serving up a very different flavour of Crewe’s grand tourer.

At the centre of the package is a strengthened 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing around 490kW and 800Nm, fed through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox tuned for sharper shifts.

Bentley says the new titanium Akrapovič exhaust delivers its most characterful V8 yet, with no synthetic enhancement. As for performance, the new Supersports goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds and packs a top speed near 310km/h, with final figures still to come.

The real headline, though, is the switch to rear-wheel drive. An eLSD works with torque vectoring and a 16mm-wider rear track to sharpen turn-in and unlock controllable oversteer. ESC settings range from fully on to fully off, and a new drive mode trio (Touring, Bentley and Sport) lets drivers dial up anything from long-haul civility to full-noise engagement.

More aero, less mass

Bentley has cut nearly 500kg compared with a standard Continental GT. Carbon fibre features heavily: roof, seats, diffuser, sills, fender blades, even the mirrors.

The rear seats and much of the sound insulation are gone, replaced with a sculpted carbon tub trimmed in leather and Dinamica. The result is the lightest Bentley since the 1940s.

Aerodynamics take a dramatic leap, too. A huge front splitter, stacked dive planes, new sills and a fixed rear wing combine to generate more than 300kg additional downforce versus a Continental GT Speed. Manthey-developed 22-inch forged wheels come standard, with hardcore Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres available for those tempted by the Supersports’ claimed 1.3g peak cornering.

A limited run

Bentley will build just 500 units worldwide, each individually numbered. The project began as a skunkworks idea in 2024, codenamed “Mildred” after record-breaking racer Mildred Mary Petre, and went from concept to test mule in six weeks.

According to CEO Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser, “The new Supersports is more than just the most driver-focused Bentley yet. It signifies a return to Bentley making more extreme cars… while celebrating 100 years of the name.”

Ordering opens in March 2026, with production beginning late that year and first deliveries set for early 2027. Allocations include New Zealand, Australia, Europe, North America and several Middle Eastern markets.

Bentley calls it a “statement of intent”, and given the specs, the tone feels less like a statement and more like a raised eyebrow daring rivals to follow.
