  • The Bentayga X Concept debuted in the US at the FAT Ice Race in Big Sky.
  • It retains a 478kW twin-turbo V8, with 55 mm higher ride height and 120mm wider track.
  • Bentley also drifted the sold-out Supersports, fitted with 2.5mm tyre studs for ice driving.

Bentley’s off-road-flavoured Bentayga X Concept has made its US debut at the inaugural FAT Ice Race in Big Sky, Montana, sharing the frozen stage with a sideways-sliding Supersports and a pre-war-inspired Speed Six Continuation Series special.

The appearance marks the next chapter in Bentley’s multi-year partnership with FAT International, following the concept’s initial reveal in Europe earlier this year.

Ice, studs and memories

Bentley Supersports

Headlining Bentley’s dynamic display was the now sold-out Supersports, the same car featured in the Supersports: Full Send film. In that outing, Travis Pastrana drove it at speeds of up to 100mph (161km/h) around Bentley’s Crewe campus.

In Montana, professional racer Lia Block took the wheel, with the only change from its film specification being the addition of 2.5 mm tyre studs for ice duty.

Joining it on the purpose-built ice track was the Speed Six Continuation Series ‘Factory Works’ edition from Mulliner. Finished in Bedford Grey with an Oxblood interior and bearing laser-engraved signatures from the build team, the car was driven by Mike Sayer, head of Bentley’s Heritage Collection.

Also present was the Bentayga X Concept, a vision of a more off-road-focused Bentayga.

Based on the Bentayga Speed, it retains the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 478 kW, paired with permanent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission. Bentley Dynamic Ride’s 48-volt active anti-roll system remains part of the package.

Chassis revisions are substantial. Track width grows by 120 mm, ride height rises by 55 mm, and wheel arches are pushed out by 40 mm to accommodate forged 22-inch wheels with high-profile off-road tyres. The result is just under 310 mm of ground clearance and a wading depth exceeding 550 mm.

Roof-mounted storage and four auxiliary spotlights underline its adventure intent, while twin front towing eyes and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust complete the look. An electric Bambino-size go-kart mounted on the roof demonstrates added carrying capacity, bringing overall height to 2.49 metres.

Big Sky becoming familiar ground

Bentley Supersports

Bentley notes this is its second visit to Big Sky in nine months, having previously hosted the global media drive for the latest Bentayga Speed there. The very Bentayga Speed used for that event has now been transformed into the X Concept, giving the Montana location added resonance for the car.

The partnership with FAT International continues later this year with a Bentley takeover of Mankei on Austria’s Grossglockner Pass. For now, the Bentayga X remains a concept, but it is one that is being exercised in public, not just posed for photos.
