Aussies love their skids just as much as they love their utes and bending cricket rules.
When it came time for Gardner Mods to build the ultimate high speed skidding machine, they couldn't go past the iconic Ford Ranger. Combining their skills with those of Kay's Fabrication in Queensland, they have managed to create an extremely unique ute.
Dropped to the ground, and sporting a set of chrome lipped wheels, it doesn't take too long to work out that this isn't your average tradie's ute.
Controversially, the Ranger has had its Ford power plant swapped out for a supercharged LSA engine that's pushing 414kW and 786Nm of torque out of a VF Commodore. Though the LSA is a reliable engine that produces big numbers, it would've been cool to see a torque-heavy diesel power plant swapped in.
Building almost everything from scratch, Kay's Fabrication took care of the Ranger's C-notch and fitting the ford 9-inch diff in the rear end.
In terms of suspension, the Ranger has a four-link rear suspension system, and sits on coilovers all around. Because it's a drift car at heart, the once 4X4 ute received a steering angle kit as well.
To keep the LSA fed, a competition-spec fuel cell and surge tank has been fitted in the tray, and is complimented nicely by a low-set drift wing.
Though Gardner Mods don't mention anything about the build's budget — if you have to ask... you know the rest.
