After being teased with a couple of spy shots recently, we have finally got a proper look at the new Audi A4 family, another model that has undergone an aggressive facelift.
Alongside unveiling the car's new looks, Audi announced the Avant, Allroad, S4 TFSI and S4 TDI models.
While the exterior updates are reasonably subtle, it is easy to differentiate this new model from the outgoing one. A wider, single-frame grille now takes pride of place at the front of the car, and is complemented by the low-slung headlights.
LED lights are standard on the car, but can be changed out for a set of range-topping ones that feature Matrix LED technology. Looking at the rear of the car, an updated bumper now sits above a subtle diffuser that houses the twin exhausts.
While most of the models have been shown in Audi's iconic grey, customers can choose from 12 different exterior colour options.
Looking at the interior, Audi's latest MMI infotainment system with its 10.1-inch screen sits in the middle of the dash, above the cabin's vents. There are three different digital instrument clusters to choose from, two of which being quite analogue, and the third being virtual.
Four variants of the new A4 will be sold; the A4 35 TFSI with 135kW, the A4 45 TDI with 169kW, the 2.0 TDI with 139kW, the 2.0 TFSI with 179kW, and finally the 3.0 TDI which produces 169kW.
Looking at the S4 variants, Audi is offering both a petrol and a diesel version of the vehicle. The petrol version is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that produces 260kW and 500Nm of torque. Pushing all this power through the four wheels, the petrol S4 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Using a similar turbocharged 3.0-litre V6, the diesel model produces slightly less power with 255kW, but makes it up with a whopping 699Nm of torque. This allows the diesel variant to shoot to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds — one millisecond faster than the petrol S4.
While Audi hasn't announced pricing, or when we'll be seeing the vehicles on our shores, we can expect to see them later this year or early 2020.
