If you thought the Audi experience ended when you parked the car, think again. Thanks to a new collaboration with Vertagear, the German marque now wants to own your home office, too.
Cruise control, meet control key
The new Audi x Vertagear line features three limited-edition gaming chairs that blur the line between sim racing and serious desk work. Prices range from US$499.99 to $699.99 (around NZ$820 to $1150), making these chairs a premium indulgence for anyone who takes posture as seriously as performance.
Leading the pack is the SL3800 Audi Edition. Built around a steel frame and padded with high-density foam, it’s upholstered in synthetic leather and includes a supportive neck pillow and Vertagear’s patented CounterMax lumbar system.
The VertaAir Seat System, essentially air-cushioned ventilation, helps keep gamers cool during long hours in the hot seat.
Designed for users up to 183cm and 113kg, the recommended sweet spot is a little leaner at 178cm and 100kg.
Built for long hauls (gaming or otherwise)
Step up to the SL5800 RS Edition, and you’ll get upgraded materials and a fabric called HygennX: an odour-controlling textile infused with coffee ground nanotech.
Yes, coffee grounds. Supposedly, the granules are embedded into the seat padding to absorb odours and improve drying times. Vertagear claims this makes it ideal for high-intensity use, though we’d recommend not spilling your flat white just to test it.
This model supports users up to 193cm and 118kg, and has the same 28.4kg net weight as the SL3800.
Big chair energy
At the top of the range sits the PL4800 Audi Sport Edition. With beefier dimensions and a 28.8kg heft, it’s tailored for users up to 198cm tall and weighing up to 163kg.
Upholstered in NuSuede - a performance microsuede also found on the entry model - it features bold Audi Sport branding and additional seat adjustments for bigger frames.
All three chairs are available for pre-order now, with shipping slated for July 15. Delivery is free (at least in the US) and Vertagear backs each with a 10-year limited warranty.
It may not be quattro-powered, but your spine will thank you.
